Nakuru
Nakuru town is the head quarters of Nakuru County. It is approximately 160km from Nairobi and a very significant hub for tourism, manufacturing and agriculture. Most notable is the Lake Nakuru National Park, not far from Nakuru city. It covers 188km2 and one of the most visited in Kenya. The park is also a Ramsar site, being an important water catchment area in Kenya.
Archaeological discoveries which have been dated to the prehistoric period have been located at the Hyrax Hill, about 8 km from the Central Business District in Nakuru.
Nakuru has a temperate climate throughout the year but temperatures fall significantly at night and during the cold season of June to August.
